Dr. Mahesh Mankani is Associate Professor of Surgery in Residence and a Principal Investigator at the UCSF Surgical Research Laboratory at SFGH. Dr. Mankani is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. He did his General Surgery Residency at the University of Chicago where he also completed a Fellowship in Burn Surgery. He then went on to the Georgetown University Medical Center where he completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical Residency.
His Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery was done at Brigham and Women's Hospital; his Clinical Fellowship in Surgery at the Harvard Medical School; and his Craniofacial and Skeletal Disease Fellowship at the NIH. Dr. Mankani's area of clinical expertise is in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Hand Surgery, and Burn Surgery. His research focuses on the role of bone marrow stromal cells in bone formation and regeneration.
