Dr. David S. Chang is Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at UCSF in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Chang completed his training in general surgery at UCSF. During his training he completed a research fellowship in vascular biology. Dr. Chang continued his specialty training in plastic surgery at UCSF and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Chang specializes in plastic surgery, but he has special interests in microvascular reconstruction, including the DIEP flap for breast reconstruction after mastectomy. His other interests include body contouring after massive weight loss and cosmetic surgery. He has authored textbook chapters and articles on plastic surgery and is currently the Associate Program Director for the UCSF Plastic Surgery Residency Program. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents the art of plastic surgery.
Dr. Chang is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
